RICHARD J. NEUTRA (1892–1970)
Born at the time of Fin-de-Siècle in Vienna, Richard Neutra soon belonged to a society of artists and intellectuals. Among them were Sigmund Freud, Gustav Klimt, Adolf Loos and Otto Wagner. Early on Neutra discovered the work of Frank Lloyd Wright (1867–1959) for himself. In 1925 Neutra moved to the USA, where he worked on Wright's Taliesin estate. He later founded his own office in Los Angeles, where he worked on iconic American modernist buildings such as the Channel Heights Estate, the Lovell House and Case Study No. 20. He also designed furniture for these projects, which he had made as unique pieces for the owners. Since 2012, Richard Neutra's furniture has been produced in larger editions for the first time. In collaboration with Dion Neutra, his son, the German company VS produces this exclusive collection, including the Boomerang Chair, the Cantilver Chair, the Lovell Easy Chair, the Alpha Seating sofa and the Camel Table.

Zur Zeit des Fin-de-Siècle in Wien geboren, bewegte sich Richard Neutra schon bald in einer Gesellschaft von Künstlern und Intellektuellen. Dazu zählten unter anderem Sigmund Freud, Gustav Klimt, Adolf Loos oder Otto Wagner. Schon früh entdeckte Neutra das Werk Frank Lloyd Wrights (1867–1959) für sich. 1925 übersiedelte Neutra in die USA, wo er auf Wrights Anwesen Taliesin arbeitete. In Los Angeles gründete er später sein eigenes Büro und arbeitete dort an so ikonischen Gebäuden der amerikanischen Moderne wie der Channel Heights Siedlung, dem Lovell House oder Case Study Nr. 20. Für diese Projekte entwarf er außerdem Mobiliar, das er für die Eigentümer als Einzelstücke anfertigen ließ. Seit 2012 werden die Möbel von Richard Neutra erstmals in Edition produziert. In Zusammenarbeit mit Dion Neutra, seinem Sohn, fertigt die deutsche Firma VS die exklusive Kollektion, u.a. den Boomerang Chair, den Cantilver Chair, den Lovell Easy Chair, das Sofa Alpha Seating oder den Camel Table.
